These are just a few wonderful, delicious, savory items that Nashville has to offer.
I am a fool when it comes to tacos, so it was no surprise to me my friend Adam decided to go to Bakersfield Tacos, in the heart of downtown, to splurge on some authentic southern tacos. I indulged in the pork belly tacos and the carne asada tacos. We doubled up on Margaritas and a shot of the Desert Rose Bourbon that was on special that night.
After we were full to our heart content, we decided to explore Broadway street which is almost exactly like Austins dirty 6th street. Which you can read about in my blog post for AUSTIN, TX !
A wonderful southern downpour decided to happen right as we were leaving the bar. This photo best captions how I felt about that.
We'll just leave it at we had a great night!
The next day was Show Day and man does our new booth look amazing!
But nothing tops Nashvilles Hot Chicken. When my girlfriend Lauren brought this up for dinner, I didn't understand what she was talking about. I thought it was a type of fried chicken. Call it ignorance, but I didn't know that there was a spicy chicken called Hot Chicken.
As the famous band, LCD SOUNDSYSTEM, said, " New York I love you...but you're bringing me down!" If you've never heard this song, first of all I'm sorry you've been deprived, secondly get it together and listen to it HERE. This is so appropriate because a few weeks back I was in New York for the lovely Winter Storm Stella.
Let me tell you a funny story:
Monday night before the storm: Half of New York is going about business as usual, the other half is thinking the apocalypse is about to begin.
Me and my Boss are going to dinner and she asks me to find a great place.
My first reaction is to call the Spotted Pig because it's delicious, and because my boyfriend used to be the Sous Chef! (hello..could I be any luckier than having a chef for a boyfriend #neverhungry)
The hostess tells me its and hour and a half wait if I was standing in front of her at that moment..no reservations!
I said, no thanks, I'm starving and I continue my yelp indulgence and come across a restaurant that is close and equally appealing.
I ring them up
Bring Bring
Owner: Hello?? ( in a way that sounded like he was being held at gun point)
Me: Hello..?... is this a resturant
Owner: Yes (same tone)
Me: Okayyy I would like to make a reservation for two
Owner: Oh I'm so sorry but we are closing early due to the impending doom
Me: Oh umm ok..thanks...
I then looked at my boss and said these exact words, " I don't think we are taking this as seriously as we should...I think we need to stock up on water!"
Mind you, we are staying at the Crown Plaza in Time Square, which remained open during Hurricane Sandy.
Needless to say, We survive, I went to the Playwright bar on 46th street with a co-worker and drank into the storm, and now have a funny story to tell about that one time I was in New York for Winter Storm Stella.

NOW FOR THE FOOD!
MY TOP THREE PLACES TO EAT AT!
I don't only go for the amazing hair show, I also have a love for food! Who doesn't.
Here are my top three places to eat affordably, but still feel glamorous in the Big Apple
NUMBER ONE: Havanna Central// We literally go here, every year, for our first meal! The sangria is on point and their cuban sandwiches make me feel like I'm in the movie Chef.
I said it once, I'll say it again....GO HERE
NUMBER TWO: Little Italy// for the best pizza you've ever eaten!
I've never been to Little Italy before, and wasn't sure what I was going to see.
Was it going to be like the movie, Moonstruck, or the Sopranos? It was more like Moonstruck and made me hungry for pizza, pasta, cannolis!

and finally for dessert...
NUMBER THREE: Sweet Revenge// in Greenwich Village
This quant little shop is bursting with love and deliciousness! I was invited here years ago when a girlfriend read an article about the owner. The story goes, after a nasty divorce, and her losing everything, she started baking and as revenge for her husband wrongfully taking everything...she opened up a small little bakery and named it Sweet Revenge. The best part is, it's famous and gets national press! Jokes on him! This woman is a rock star and her cupcakes prove it!
High Fashion and Trendy hipsters are what you will find at this years ProBeauty ISSE Long Beach Hair Show. The event was held on January 27th-29th, and for the 5th year I was with Olivia Garden, strutting our new booth to the attendees. With names like Matrix, Chi, TIGI, Pulp Riot, and Larissa Love, you are transported into the world of Beauty.
AND...drum roll please...Olivia Garden is celebrating it's 50th Anniversary!
This is one of my favorite shows because I work with all local artists, who are also some of my close friends. It's not work when you're having that good of a time!
In my opinion the ProBeauty ISSE Hair Show is the beginning of the show season year and everyone is dressed for the occasions. I wanted to give you a few of the highlights of the trends that are going to be seen this year! Get ready....GO!
Open Frames, Silver hair and old concert Tees are a must for this year!
Can we just swoon over this mustache. There was a competition going on and I give this gentleman a 10!
The 70's are alive and well with this look! Waist High leather pants with the brushed back hair is a MUST!
Ponchos have always been a fan favorite, but what if you could get it custom made! I ran into this guy who was promoting his friends business...check out UNIQUEORIN for unique finds.
Leopard, and this very sharp hair cut makes you wonder...how wild is too wild!
These besties are bold and beautiful! I called them my Cotton Candy Cuties
Backstage at the show, it almost felt like a rock show!
This ladies personality was so beautiful and confident. That is one thing you see at the hair shows, CONFIDENCE! No one judges you and embraces your individuallity.
The Yin and Yang. Boho meets Modern!
This is a look that is classic and cool, they could walk right out of the show and head to one of my favorite bars on 4th street! My favorite is she is wearing her sweater as a scarf!
Our Olivia Garden bags are equally as trendy!
We even came across some demonstrations from our neighbors Aquage, Pravana, and Matrix.
Behind the Chair at the Matrix Booth!
Look at that precioson...
That focus....
I dyed my hair a few months back, a very trendy purple, and I was constantly asked if I had used Pravana. One of the well known color names, they allowed us on the stage to get a closer look!
The amazing team behind Pravana
Aquage always uses beautiful colors and can transform any type of hair into a masterpiece.
Mid Creation

I feel totally lame writing this LONG OVERDUE post right after my, Where is the Balance, post about "keeping it together". You would think after almost TWO YEARS of blogging I would have some sort of calendar to keep me on track! This is not the case. I have been neglecting my blog for far too long ( Thank you Uncle Cliff for the kick ) and have so much to share with you that I don't know where to start! Since I left off in September, let's do a recap post!
First... How was everyone's Halloween? I hope it was a Gruesomely Good.
Mine was eventful... I starting dating the love of my life around the beginning of November.
Valentines day is now around the corner, so I will keep him a secret till then but all I can ask is,
Have you every loved someone so much it hurt? Is that normal?
In true Kalie form for this years Thanksgiving I had a girls get together called .... (Drum roll please)
GURL THANKS
Which leads me into the final two holidays....How was everyone's Christmas / New Years.
I went to South America ( which I will make into a lengthier post in a bit) for Christmas and it was B* E *A* utiful.
Here are just a few pictures from the trip!
And spent New Years with this hunk ( Told you he'd be back!) More about him later.
I hope you had fun seeing what I've been up to, and more posts are coming I swear. I am traveling more than ever and finally entering my Senior Year of my BA.
SOOO that means, a lot of traveling tips, pictures and recommendations, as well as organizational tips, breakdowns, and inspirational posts!
Try and keep up with me because Life Gets Messy... and here are the Messes that Matter
The Fall Semester at California State University, Dominguez Hills has started and I have even more on my plate. To say "overwhelmed" would be an understatement, but my mantra this semester is BALANCE! (<--- If you need a laugh watch this)
I wanted to create a "How to Color Coordinate Your Planner" type post because when I am stressed my PLANNER becomes my How to Survive Guide to Life.
(Click HERE to get $10 off an Erin Condren Planner).
Every time I look to Pintrest for answers on how to organize my planner, it doesn't have what I need as a single college student! It's always, How to Feed a Family of 5 or How to Coordinate for Single moms. I'm a SINGLE COLLEGE STUDENT on the brink of a meltdown if I don't know whats going on.
I've made it fun...I've made it easy...I made this for you :)
First things first...I wrote out everything I need to remember on an index card so I know what I need on my "key."
STEP 1:
STEP 2:
Then the fun begins..last year I used this key for my planner, but soon realized I needed it to change.
Take a look at both and see what works for you.
New...
STEP 3:
Step three is to pick out a color that is bright and beautiful, cut it out to size, and laminate it. If you don't have a laminator you could use a page protector.
STEP 4: Start planning. I personally don't like my planner to be circus colors..meaning I don't write in the color I have designated but instead continuing with my box color.
AND FINALLY STEP 5: WASHAI TAPE! Cuz if your not using it...you should start. It is an amazing tape that allows my planner to not only look cute, but is easily movable. If I don't like it's placement I could move it without my paper tearing.
I hope this post helps you organize your planner!
